David Hudson - Owner & CEO

David Hudson is a native Texan who grew up in Cameron, Texas, working in the family furniture business. He attended the University of Texas from 1962 to 1966 followed by a stint in the US Air Force after graduation. David then spent 8 years in the textile business on both coasts after which he returned to Texas buying The Sleep Shop in 1980.

David has had the pleasure of selling the best mattress products to the fine people of the Austin area for 30 years and would like to thank all of those customers for their patronage of The Sleep Shop.

Prudy Hudson - Chief of the Chief

Prudy Hudson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, graduating from Bossier High School in Bossier City, LA. She attended Northwestern State in Natchitoches, LA and was Miss Bossier Parish in 1964. Prudy and David met in Shreveport and were married in 1967. During David's textile business career, they lived in Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles and New York, returning to Texas in the late 1970's. During this time, their two children were born (Shannon in 1969 and Justin in 1975).

The Sleep Shop family endeavor began in 1980 and remains so today. Prudy is active in the operation of The Sleep Shop and strives to keep David, Justin, and the rest of our expert staff in line. So if you are looking for quality mattresses in a family retail setting, The Sleep Shop is the place to go.

Justin Hudson - The 2^nd Generation

Justin's life venture started in California to then move on to New York and back to Texas, all before age 2. Growing up in Georgetown, Justin worked summers at The Sleep Shop until his graduation from Georgetown High School. Then he was off to the Marine Corps (Semper Fi). Justin then attended Texas Tech University graduating with a Communications Degree in 2000. With that it was back to The Sleep Shop working to help manage the family business, enjoying working with our great Austin area customers. Family owned business are just the best... please come in and see us!!

Tucker, Belle and Lucy are the official greeters and baby sitters at The Sleep Shop. They try to make everyone feel welcome and would be more than happy to help you choose your new mattress. Unfortunately, we recently lost Tucker (13 years old) but Belle and Lucy work very hard to fill his 'paws'. Please come by to see them.
